Well as for seeing change in the eggs there’s not much there yet (that will be the next post). But I thought I would let you know how we as a family are settling in with the eggs and the incubator.
Now I’ve already mentioned the noise that the incubator makes every time it goes around but it does also have a humming noise…constantly. I have gotten used to it and can’t even hear it most of the time any more, my brother either has the telly on so loud or the iPad that it completely drowns out the noise of the incubator so he has no problems either. My mother isn’t here in the day but she doesn’t notice it in the night either.
But there is one problem, my dad is working here in the day and he hasn’t exactly gotten used to the noise (oops!) I thought it might help that he works from home to get used to the noise and it has a little – but not when it comes to his naps on the sofa in the night…
My dad often drifts off on the sofa at night when my parents are watching TV, unfortunately his little spot where he drifts off now has the incubator right next to his head… so it’s brought a smile to my mothers face as the incubator isn’t giving him much peace in the night!
I think I speak for us all when I say that we’re a bit of a clumsy family.. Especially myself – injuring my back by dodging a water bomb is my most recent incident. More often occurrences are glasses being broken etc. So I am a bit on edge when it comes to the incubator, I wont allow myself to sit anywhere near it (just imagining myself lifting up the lid and dropping it down again on the eggs scares me enough) so I won’t be spilling any drinks near there hopefully!
My cat (lying next to me now unsuspicious) worries me more every day, he is an old man now, about 80 in cat years! But that doesn’t mean that he won’t try his best to get hold of those little ducklings! So unfortunately we won’t be able to have the ducklings with us for more than a couple of days, as there’s only so long we can keep the cat in the kitchen! We’re hoping the chicks will hatch and Charlie the cat will be completely unaware of the little duckies before we give them back to the Sanctuary!
If anyone has any questions or ideas that could be added in to the blog I would be happy to hear what you have to say, you can comment below, ask on the Facebook Sanctuary page or ask me on my personal page (links below)
Monday-Tuesday will be the next posting time so look out for the post then (it will be every 3-4 days I have decided).
We also have another post coming on Sunday though so look out for that, we met another community project based in Neath (can you guess who?!) and I will be telling you their story as it is a great project! We have more things lined up next week so it’s not just about the eggs! Also check out our Facebook page if you’re interested in fruit and veg boxes at a non-profit price, this is what they would look like…
Thanks for reading, come back soon!
